Coaster wedding guest favors

September 23, 2013

Bespoke coasters are a great idea for wedding favors. But if you are a little short on time or if there is a design that you already love from our line, why not just customize them a little with your own tag and packaging.Over the summer, a few of our clients purchased coasters from our existing designs and then made them their own...here's one of our favorites...

Elana chose our floral coasters for her wedding.

We love how Elana chose a simple twine with flecks of gold and then further customized each pile of coasters with hand-calligraphed name tags in gold.

Here's another shot which shows how the colors and gold accents were picked up throughout the wedding design.

Congratulations Elana! Thanks so much for choosing our floral coasters to go with your wedding theme!

Business Stationery for Hudson Made

September 20, 2013

Hudson_Made_wrapper

We've been working with our good friends at Hudson Made for over a year now and we've written about how much we love their website, styling and products before. Everything on their site is carefully curated and beautifully packaged (sometimes we have something to do with this!)

We were recently asked to print their business stationery for them and we love how the cards manifest their clean, sharp brand.

Letterpress Lobsters!

September 17, 2013

Lobster_Coasters

We've noticed that one of our most popular products is the set of letterpress lobster coasters! We love how something pretty esoteric is also really appealing. We wonder if it's because lobsters sum up summertime, outdoor dining, communal eating and also the sheer joy of getting a little bit messy while consuming something delicious!

We also have a lovely lobster greeting card and a little lobster gift tag...so there are plenty of products to get your claws into if you are a fan of these crustaceans!

And finally, how about a recipe for the Ultimate Lobster Roll?!

A new notecard, a new font

Alexandra Harney NC 1

We recently discovered a gorgeous new font. You may recognize it from the recent blog post about my bike-themed wedding invitations. It's proven really popular with lots of our wedding clients so we designed a simple, striking new personalized notecard which features the font.

We love how the font mimics handwriting but is also contemporary and refined. We think it looks great in a vivid hue, like this bright turquoise.

Things we love: Edward Gorey Illustrations

September 13, 2013

We wanted to add a new series to our blog entitled "things we love". Our aim is to highlight gorgeous design outside of the letterpress world that gets our hearts racing. Sometimes we find inspiration in really unusual places. So we're kicking off with an introduction to the illustration of Edward Gorey.

goreydracula41

Gorey was a prolific writer and illustrator whose work was both elegant and sometimes macabre.

We love his whimsical drawings and we are always taken by the way he puts colors together.

Here are some more examples of his book covers...

New England Invitation suite

Marblehead_blog

It has been a wonderful summer and part of the Sesame Letterpress team (me) was lucky enough to spend a great deal of time in my lovely hometown of Marblehead, MA.

Swimming in saltwater, sailing, boating and eating a great deal of ice cream and lobster inspires the nautical themed stationery we love to print.  It was therefore especially fun this summer to design this invitation stationery for a Maine wedding, in collaboration with a very sweet bride.

Bicycle Wedding Invitation Suite

Jana invitation

Finally, here are some photos of the wedding invitations that we designed and printed for my own wedding! It's always difficult to come up with a design and motif that feels like it completely sums up the couple, but for us, it was a little more straightforward: as we were planning our wedding, we were also planning a cross-country bike tour! So we knew we wanted to incorporate some bike illustrations on our stationery. You can find out more about our bike tour at www.honkforfreedom.com. Meanwhile, take a look through the photos of our invitation suite:

Shadow-design Wedding Invitation

June 17, 2013

We printed this text-based invitation for a lovely client of ours. We adore the shadow effect created by the font and use of color. It's also really refreshing to see a design that fills the entire card. It's contemporary while also being extremely classy!Congratulations Lauren and Chang!
