We love when a couple decides to punch things up a notch with brightly colored edgepainting. The peach colored edges look amazing with this simple and modern wedding invitation. The combination of persimmon and gray ink with peach is striking, yet soft.
Andrea and Julio chose a beautiful, wildflower patterned from Rifle Paper Co. to line their envelopes. With such a simple wedding invitation, it's nice to add fun elements like this floral liner, without being overwhelming. We love designing clean, uncomplicated wedding suites, as it allows the letterpress printing to really shine.
I started letterpress printing in 1999 and my interest at the time was to collaborate with artist friends to print editions. I wanted to use the medium to produce and share work that I found captivating. We have worked on many inspiring projects over the last fifteen years, translating great images into letterpress prints. When I saw the work of Mitsushige Nishiwaki, I felt immediately compelled to "share" his work, not just in the social media sharing sense.
Mitsushige Nishiwaki is an etching artist based in Tokyo. We have corresponded over the years and I fell in love with his illustrations from a recent trip to New York City. He draws the grandeur of the buildings, the charm of the shops (in great detail), a little street vendor grittiness along with coffee and donuts. He captures the small and the big moments of life in NYC in a really special way.
Being based in Brooklyn and loving all of it's patisseries, we selected Nishiwaki's "Brooklyn Donut Shop" to reproduce as a limited edition print. We're publishing this as an edition of 40, letterpress printed on archival paper with watercolor hand coloring. We love the odd perspective and scale and the way this cheers up our kitchen in the morning.
We think art should be for display and for sharing so in tangent with this print, we're also introducing a set of New York City note cards. These are sold in sets of 8 (2 each of 4 designs). We hope people enjoy Mitsisghige Nishiwaki's work as much as we do and we look forward to sharing more collaborations in the upcoming year!
We love working with couples from New York on their wedding invitations. It's always fun to see where they'll be holding their event, since we're often familiar with the venues. These letterpress wedding invitations are for a Brooklyn couple, who wanted to keep their design simple and clean. We added the subway car as a nod to their daily commute and a vintage new York map as an envelope liner. All the pieces were printed in a dark charcoal gray for a little twist on classic black.
These letterpress birthday invitations were so fun to design and print. Our client, Christine, threw a surprise party for her husband's 40th, and wanted to send out fun and bright invites. We loved her idea of a big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs with a candle sticking out. It's the perfect image for an Italian style birthday dinner.
We designed this fun map, highlighting a few key places for guests of the party. The minimal design fits in perfectly with the invitation and information card. All of the cards were edge painted in bright red, to match the bowl of spaghetti.
Classic letterpress printed note cards make great, custom wedding gifts. There's nothing nicer than receiving a handwritten note in the mail from after attending a wedding. Check out the Social Stationery section of our website for different designs for your next order.
Our pale floral wedding invitation is one of our favorite designs as it is simple in color and yet has an intricate embossed background. To print this, we use a clear ink with just a speck of pigment to bring out the depth. Each time we print this design for a couple, we marvel at the result.
Moving can be such hard, but rewarding work. We love to make your life just a tiny bit easier by printing beautiful moving cards for you. This design is perfect for anyone moving locally in Brooklyn, with this beautiful, vintage illustration of the Brooklyn Bridge as the feature. One thing that everyone looks forward to at a wedding is the delicious dinner that's being prepared for them. As stationers, we really appreciate all the extra handmade touches on the day of the wedding, so we love when we get to design and print dinner menus. Sometimes, the best part of the process is drooling over all the courses that will be served!
We often print table numbers and escort cards, as well. It's a fun way to pull an design element from your invitations or an illustration that reflects your venue.
